It focuses on navigation in open moorland and countryside away from paths and other linear features. We strongly recommend completing the NNAS Bronze Navigator Award before taking this course. The course runs over two days and includes both training and an assessment of personal skills.

A walk to the highest point in the south of the Isle of Man to visit the Iron Age hill fort and settlement on South Barrule and find out what the Round Table really is – a bronze age burial cairn.

Starting at the National Arboretum we explore the Royal Chapel of St John and Tynwald Hill–the focus for the Isle of Man’s national  day usually on 5th July (but this year on Monday 6th July), “Tynwald Day”– with its Norse and Celtic roots. We gradually walk up the side of Slieau Whallian, then follow tracks over the hills to Patrick Road, Patrick Church, with its connections to Knockaloe internment camp, and return to St John’s following the line of the old Peel to Douglas railway line. A real mix of lowland and upland views and landscapes.
