The Northern Ridge – Snaefell summit to Ramsey

Laxey Railway Station off New Road, Laxey NGR SC 433 845, Isle of Man

We head to the top of Snaefell the easy way by the Snaefell Mountain Railway (additional ticket needed, cost not included)–or get off at the Bungalow to walk to the top; then head from the highest point on the Island along the rounded ridge to Clagh Ouyr and North Barrule, and on to Ramsey past Ballure Reservoir and Plantation. A linear walk over some of the Isle of Man’s wild hill and moorland landscapes with views over hills and the northern plain.

Tynwald Hill, Slieau Whallian & Knockaloe

Starting at the National Arboretum we explore the Royal Chapel of St John and Tynwald Hill. We gradually walk up the side of Slieau Whallian, then follow tracks over the hills to Patrick, with its connections to Knockaloe internment camp, and return to St John’s on the old Peel to Douglas railway line. A real mix of lowland and upland views and landscapes.
