Half day walks
Half Day walks are 2-3 hours in length and can be in the morning, afternoon or evening.
Explore a small area of the Island in depth and at a gentle pace, taking in the stories of the land, plants, animals and people who have lived there.
All are priced at £10 per walker. Maximum ratio of leader to group size 1:12.
Celts, Norse & fort – The Braaid & Santon Broogh
We visit the impressive Celtic and Norse farmstead at the Braaid; then walk through Chibbanagh Plantation to the medieval fort known as Santon Broogh – probably a motte (timber ‘castle’) site.
Perfect peace – Lag ny Keeilley chapel
Starting from Dalby Mountain Nature Reserve car park we pass Kerroodhoo Plantation as we head to Eary Cushlin and then on to the Early Christian chapel at Lag ny Keeilley. We walk the lonely coastal tracks and enjoy spectacular views down the west coast of the Isle of Man exploring one of the most atmospheric and isolated chapels on the Island.
Volcanoes & Vikings – Scarlett Head & Balladoole
Explore a real treasure box of coastal geology and archaeology: stone which has its origins in tropical seas & lagoons and volcanic activity; archaeological sites including Balladoole fort, the Viking ship burial, Keeill Vael (St Michael’s chapel) and Close ny Chollagh promontory fort.
Neolithic tombs in Maughold – Cashtal yn Ard & Ballafayle
Explore part of the parish of Maughold and discover two of the finest Neolithic burial tombs on theIsland. Visit the Quaker burial ground and enjoy the views to North Barrule and Maughold Head.
Bradda Head spectacular – Milner’s Tower & mines
Blow away those cobwebs with a walk over Bradda Head, visit Milner’s tower, see the remains of mining activity with spectacular views over Port Erin Bay and the Calf of Man. Then walk down into Fleshwick and back to Port Erin the easy way!
Southern Summit – South Barrule & the Round Table
A walk to the highest point in the south of the Isle of Man to visit the Iron Age hill fort and settlement on South Barrule and find out what the Round Table really is – a bronze age burial cairn.
St Michael’s Isle – Fort Island
We meet at Hango Hill and begin with a look at this site of burials, execution and feasting! We follow the coast by King William’s College and Ronaldsway airport to Derbyhaven, then past the lime kiln and the Smelt and to visit inside the medieval St Michael’s Chapel and the Derby Fort on St Michael’s Isle. A real walk through history!
