The Northern Ridge – Snaefell summit to Ramsey

We head to the top of Snaefell the easy way by the Snaefell Mountain Railway (additional ticket needed, cost not included)–or get off at the Bungalow to walk to the top; then head from the highest point on the Island along the rounded ridge to Clagh Ouyr and North Barrule, and on to Ramsey past Ballure Reservoir and Plantation. A linear walk over some of the Isle of Man’s wild hill and moorland landscapes with views over hills and the northern plain.

Preparing for your walk
Strenuous walk on mountain paths and tracks with steep, exposed routes on a high rounded ‘ridge’.About 11km distance and 320m height gained. If walked from the Bungalow 12.5km distance and 400m height gained.Please wear footwear suitable for hill footpaths and exposed open moorland. Bring clothing appropriate to the weather on the day, including waterproofs and fleeces, and food, drink and support equipment(e.g. walking poles, gaiters, insect repellent, sun cream etc.) which you find useful. Water and packed lunch essential!
